Phuket, ‘The Pearl of Andaman’, is the largest island, but smallest province. This only island province of Thailand lies 48 kms., north to south, among 32 smaller outlying islands. |

In the rich and colorful history, Phuket was on one of the major trading routes between India and China. The Portuguese, Frenches, Dutches and English came for trading. They left there ancient European-styled architectures in the town. |
The attractive island is blessed with a wide variety of magnificent coastlines, beaches, hidden coves, secluded bays, limestone cliffs, forested hillsides, and surrounding deep waters that are full of colorful marine life.
Phuket is one of the major water sport centers in Thailand. Many international activities, ie. the beach volley ball, x-games, diving compettitions are held here. More than 14 magnificent white sandy beaches with clear waters on the west coast and its nearby islands make it impressive. Many dive training facilities with internationally qualified instructors are also offered.

At the Chatchai landing, the Sarasin bridge which is 660 m. long, links Phuket to the Tha Nun Landing of Phangnga.
Phuket is also one of the major water sport centers in Thailand. There are more than 14 magnificent white sandy beaches with warm, clear waters on the west coast and its nearby islands. It is one of the best diving center that has many training facilities with internationally qualified instructors.
Since 500 years ago, this is the island of largest tin production in the land of rolling hills, alternating with basins. Phuket people are mostly agriculturists and gardeners. They have unique Southern dialect. Some Malay and Sikh also migrated here.

Weather: rain (May.- Oct.) summer (Nov.- Apr.) sunny and showering days oftenly happen, wettest in September. Average temperature: 22 - 34 C. Nov. - Feb. is the best period travelling here.
