SAMUT SONGKHRAM

Samut Songkhram is a smallest central province on the sea shore of the Mae Klong Bay. It is one of 5 perimeter city of Bangkok, others are Samut Prakan, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, and Pathum Thani. The area is a low basin having a river and canals passing all over.

It is an anceint city, still not found when did it established. Some historians believe that it was a district of Ratchaburi, which is called "Suan Nok", that was upgraded to be a "Mae Klong" town around the end of Ayuthaya period.

The province has frequent rains that make the majority area suitable for cultivation of fruits. In addition, along both sides of Thon Buri-Pak Tho Highway, there are several salt production fields, lychee orchards, and lobster farms as well. Amphawa Floating Market is interesting shopping place.

Thai products, such as Thai silks, cottons, gemstones, admired handicrafts, are easily found in Bangkok and famous superb Thai and international menus are offered here as same as the international imported products.
