TRANG

Trang is is a large town of the South which is the communication center to Nakhon Si Thammarat since the past. It is also called "Thap Thiang" by villagers. There are many attractions and tourism resorts, especially waterfalls and beautiful islands.

In the old days, the province was a protal town, trading with foreigners. The sea port was on Thailand's west coast on the seashore of the Indian Ocean. The place is the first area of para rubber plantation. The rubber plants have been firstly grown by Phraya Rasdanupradit Mahissara Phakdi who got the seedling stocks from Malaysia.

It is also the location of one of Thailand's fertile waterfalls and is another site of the Chinese vegetarian festival, which is believed to have originated in the 19th century.
