SAMUT PRAKAN
 
Samut Prakan is also known as "Pak Nam", meaning to its location which is at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River, at the head of the Gulf of Thailand. The area is a basin of rice fields and orchards, without mountain. There are many canals of brinish water, Myrsinaceae and mangroove forests.
 
The city was established in the Ayutthaya period. The original site was at Amphoe Phra Pradaeng, which is called Muang Phra Pradaeng. During the reign of King Rama II, he commanded to have Muang Samut Prakan he reestablished at Tambon Pak Nam in the year 1819 and it took three years to complete.

Phra Samut Chedi is a landmark of this province. There are many attractions such as The Ancient City, Crocodile Farm, Bang Pu seaside, and the Paklat Songkran Festival. Famous products of this province are Khanom Jak and Salid fish.
