          Thai houses have distinctive styles, especially in the north and central regions. The designs of the Thai houses are respond the dwelling behavior and using. Traditionally, Thais build new houses near their family's houses in the same area. According to living behaviors that They normally live warmly with their family and relatives.

 

           

 
 

Central Thai House

 
     
            Central Thai house has distinctive "Manila" styles since longer than 150 years ago. Central Thais dwelling in the riverside area. They built the basement to be high for preventing animals and floods.  
     
            The house has high eaves and balconies. The high roof and basement make a good way of wind. The gable is decorated with distinctive extension at the apex. The floor is terraced into many levels, between bedrooms, balconies and exterior floors.  
     
            Tamnak is the houses of Dynastic scions or royal chiefs that is more luxurious. It is decorated with elongated and elaborately carved "Sho-Fa" extension at the front of the gable. It has balcony (Pa-lai) and toilet.  
     
  Northern Thai House   
            Northern Thai house is one of Thai architectural heritage. The house was uniguely designed to fit the environment, culture, and tradition of northern people. It is called "Ga Lae", which is meaning to a distinctive decorative extension at the gable of the house.  
     
            Ga Lae (the northern house) usually belongs to the wealthy members of a northern community. It is builted of good quality wood, generally has two units. For big Thai families, the house may actually consist of a number of structures in one compound.  
     
            Galae has high basement with some exterior stairs connect between the house bodies. The windows are small to protect against the cold wind. The unique Lanna-styled roofs are made of wood ceramics and banana leaves. Anyway, the roof can be made of grass or clay ceramics too.  
     
  Floating House    
     
            Floating House (Ruen Phae) is usually divided parts into a shop and a living lodge. It is made of hard wood or bamboo and square with a triangular roof. It can be seen on rivers and canals throughout Thailand.
